Soccer Versus Other Sports

By -, March 7, 2010 4:21 pm

Soccer must be one of the first sports games all played by humans. I can only imagine cave dwellers kicking in the old soccer ball. Or perhaps it is a rock soccer? A soccer coconut perhaps? You must be one of the simplest form of playing sports imaginable. I mean, really, I hit the ball this way and you try to hit the ball this way. That ball (coconut?) Va more this or more so determines the winner. If May be easy for me to imagine soccer around his expulsion by a group of caveman sports enthusiasts, as soon as official minutes of soccer was played by China approximately 3,000 years. Wow, it’s like the World Cup 750, if someone was keeping track.

Ultimate Soccer header

soccer is also curious nature, insofar as it is one of the few sports I can think of where you use your head more than simple strategies. In fact, you can use your head to make contact with the ball. Imagine trying that in soccer (American) or hockey for that matter. Nothing link deflecting a slap shot with his forehead for a game winning goal. Stitches not hurt that much. These guys are soccer a little strange that way. But the ultimate shot in the head soccer was a little more bizarre. Gruesome actually. Apparently, in addition to medieval times, the head of a vanquished Danish prince has used the ball a day early soccer hooligans in the east of England. Yuck. I think the purchase of a new soccer shoes after this meeting. It is a marvel of soccer ever made with the Danes after a defeat like that.

Soccer Wars

As with many games these days, soccer has its origins on the battlefield. Rival cities to play soccer against each other, with little or no rules, teams and massive size. Violent, bloody games, with hundreds of people kicking, punching, tripping in an attempt to win the soccer game. Sounds a bit like today, except today, which sounds more like a good description of the fans instead of actors. You think it’s hard to be a soccer referee today, imagine a few hundred years. At least today, they keep the fans and referees separated. Over time, and prohibiting local authorities realized that soccer was not going to work, more civilized soccer fans and has rules for the game of soccer. Not everyone agreed, and there were some splinter groups that came out and formed derivatives of the game. Rugby was one.

Soccer civilized like playing

Today, we play modern soccer that we even allow our children to play. An extension by far the beginnings of the sport. Perhaps an analogy can be drawn between soccer and many new forms of expression. At first, things can be a bloody mess, but a few thousand years of civilization and everything can be reduced to a child’s play.

David Beckham, The Man

By Robert Smith, February 11, 2010 1:03 am

Born on May 2, 1975, David Robert Joseph Beckham is an English soccer player who plays for Real Madrid and the England National Soccer Team. He made his debut at he age of seventeen.

London, England is his birthplace. Born to a kitchen fitter and a hairdresser, his father is David Edward Alan Ted Beckham. Although he does not practice any one faith in particular, he was much influenced by his Jewish maternal grandmother. Beckham’s father was a die-hard Manchester United fan.

This love of the game was passed down to his son. Winning the FC Barcelona talent search competition brought Beckham’s amazing talent to light. He also played on a team coached by his dad, the Ridgeway Rovers. His first official club was the Tottenham Hotspur. His soccer training included Manchest United’s Youth Training, as well as Brandenton Prepatory Academy.

In 1992, he played for the Manchester United’s team as a substitute. After that, he signed his very first professional contract. Beckham became a household name when he scored a marvelous goal in August 1996, against Wimbledon. His debut in World Cup was on September 1, 1996 in the England vs. Moldova match. PPA Young voted him as the Player of the Year in that year. In the 1998 FIFA World Cup, he played all the matches and in the finals his team played with France. Due to his bad performance in it, the media and supporters, who blamed him for England’s elimination, accused him. He even received death threats and the whole incident was the story line of his Adidas advertisement.

England won the FA Cup and Champions League in the 1998-99 seasons and David Beckham was a part of that United Team. Although he was criticized from time to time, about his World Cup performance, he didn’t give up and provided significant performance and goals afterwards. United forgave him when he was the reason behind the victory at the league championship. In 1999, he won the European Footballer of the Year award and FIFA World Player of the Year title. But England’s defeat in Euro 2000 brought back the criticism from the supporters.

Adidas Indoor Soccer Shoes Information

By Lee Reid, January 27, 2010 1:47 am

If you are thinking of picking up a pair of Adidas Indoor Soccer Shoes that are value priced, durable and well crafted, then check out the latest collection of Adidas shoes that are available.

There are quality models of indoor shoes by Adidas including the Samba, F10, F30, Adipure Indoor and the Copa Mundial.

When thinking about the points of price, durability, quality and craftsmanship, I would say that indoor soccer shoes by Adidas offer a great value for the price. Because of these great points, the brand is known as the choice of champions.

My personal favorites from the company include the Adidas Absolado Indoor Soccer shoes and the Adidas Samba Millennium edition.

There are some great web shops that have deals that are normally much cheaper than what you would pay at your local sporting goods store. When you are ready to purchase, take a few minutes first and do a quick search on the net.

Searching on the net allows you the opportunity to easily compare prices, so you can be sure that you are getting the best possible deal for your money.

One of the best parts of net shopping is that you will be able to locate those rare or hard to find models of Adidas Indoor Soccer shoes that you can’t seem to find anywhere else.

Prices:

If you are thinking about buying them at your town’s sporting goods dealer or a department store, you should expect to pay around $59 or more, depending upon the particular model. For web shoppers, values can be found on the net for up to 50% off of retail.

Company Facts:

Adidas is known the world over at the brand with the three stripes. It is a public company that began in Herzogenaurach, Germany in 1924 by Adolf Dassler. The brand is most famous for their footwear, and also markets sportswear, sports equipment and toiletries. The companies products can be found in their specialty boutique shops and in major department stores located all over the world.

The Thierry Henry Hand Ball Saga

Thierry Henry is a free man. Many fans believe Thierry Henry deserved to be penalized for his hand ball that secured a spot for France in the World Cup and sent Ireland home ending their dreams of playing in South Africa.

I was rooting for Ireland in this match up. As unfair as it is, I believe the decision by FIFA is the right decision. I’ve had a few debates with some friends recently and there are some comparisons that we’ve made that really make it clear to us.

Take any other sport, for example Michael Jordan and basketball. If MJ traveled during a big game that led to a game winner (knowing he did this), there would be absolutely no chance he would be penalized in any way. There’s a team that would get the blame and that’s the team of the referee’s. This wouldn’t be MJ’s fault, things happen during games!

According to FIFA’s rules, they couldn’t find anything that would give them a legal right to fine Henry. Basically, they agreed that a hand ball is NOT worthy of any sort of fine. The refs should face a fine before Henry should – it’s their job to make the calls.

It would have been a shame to see a superstar of Henry’s caliber on the sidelines during the World Cup this summer. The punishment he was facing could have kept him out of the World Cup for several games. This is the most elite soccer tournament in the World and it would not be the same without his presence.

I’ve played soccer my entire life at high levels in the States and I’ve been part of some heart-breaking calls. Some were in my favor and some were against us, but the fingers could only be pointed at one person – The ref! It was never an issue with the players as it’s not their responsibility.

Ireland was so upset about this that they asked FIFA to replay the match. I was hoping for a rematch, but I knew that FIFA would turn it down. They can’t overturn the call and allow a rematch, but maybe this pushes for FIFA to begin using technology to help overturn calls. I would hate to see official reviews in the middle of a soccer game, but I’m not opposed to adding a referee to the end-line.

All soccer players have done something against the rules and been successful doing it. It’s part of the game! Unfortunately for Ireland, Henry got away with a bit too much and it meant a spot in the Worlds greatest tournament!

Finding the Right Pair of Soccer Goalie Gloves

By James Pulito, January 15, 2010 10:32 pm

As a goalie myself, I know how important it is to have the right gear when you’re playing in net. I’ve always been the goalie who loved the newest equipment and always stayed on top of the latest trends. I would usually follow the trends of the pro goalies and then wait for Christmas! In this article I’ll share some of the different options available for a goalie gloves today.

When you begin your search for a new pair of goalie gloves, first figure out what type of glove you’re looking for. They make goalie gloves for different conditions, such as bad weather, harder surfaces, for match play only or just training purposes and even for extra protection. Since goalie gloves can get expensive, figure out your budget as well and then determine your size. This can be done by heading to the nearest sports store.

My favorite goalie gloves on the market are made by Uhlsport. I’ve only used this brand for gloves and their top model is called the Uhlsport Cerberus Bionik Goalkeeper Glove. I highly recommend this glove for games, not for training purposes.

This goalie glove made by Uhlsport is one of the most durable gloves made. It’s made with a patented grip foam which is soft and thick. The design is very similar to the human hand, which allows for great support by the spines placed in each finger. These gloves are on the expensive side and can be purchased for $169.99 at soccer.com.

Reusch is another brand that specializes specifically in goalie gear and they do a very good job at it. Their top glove is called Reusch Raptor R1 Ortho-Tec Glove and it’s a bit more affordable than the previous option. They’re made with extra thick foam and some soft latex on the backhand which makes them extremely comfortable. These goalie gloves are great on indoor surfaces and hard outdoor grounds and also provide great protection around the fingers.

These Reusch gloves are priced at $99.00 on soccer.com. They’re also great for match play and high level practice sessions. If this is in your budget, this is one of the best overall gloves you’ll find. I’ve had very good luck with them and the reviews are always great.

There are a few major differences you’ll notice as the quality of goalie gloves decrease. The biggest differences are in the thickness of the cushion and foam. You’ll also notice less support on the fingers. A better pair of soccer goalie gloves will also last longer so I always recommend spending a bit extra if possible.

I hope this has helped you understand a few options available for soccer goalie gloves and good luck finding your new pair!
